This week Manhattan Central reveals The Perfect Manhattan.  A libation that is not too sweet or dry; in a word, it is, perfect.  Featuring award winning Breckenridge Bourbon, which is made with a unique high-rye mash bill and genuine Breckenridge snowmelt for proofing.  Truly one of the world’s best bourbons.

Breckenridge Bourbon

The Perfect Manhattan

2 oz. Breckenridge Bourbon

1/2 oz. sweet vermouth

1/2 oz. dry vermouth

1 dash bitters

Maraschino Cherries

Fill mixing glass with ice.  Add bourbon, vermouths and bitters.  Stir and strain into a cocktail glass and garnish with a maraschino cherry.  Enjoy!

A popular history suggests that the drink originated at the Manhattan Club in New York City in the early 1870s, where it was invented by Dr. Iain Marshall for a banquet hosted by Jennie Jerome (Lady Randolph Churchill, Winston’s mother) in honor of presidential candidate Samuel J. Tilden.  The success of the banquet made the drink fashionable, later prompting several people to request the drink by referring to the name of the club where it originated—”the Manhattan cocktail”.   Wikipedia
